IR Optics

A world where the camera housing radiates like a sun

Designing IR optics requires somewhat more consideration than designing visual optics, even though the wavelengths are longer and more forgiving. The range of optical materials that can be used is limited and wavelength-dependent, the design must also consider the Narcissus effect, and the fact that the housing containing the lenses will function as a radiation source at the operating wavelength of the camera.

The choice of wavelength range depends heavily on the temperature and distance ranges in which the measurement will be performed, as well as on the atmospheric transmission in the wavelength range.

Alfa Exx has a number of employees with extremely solid experience in optical design within the IR area.
